SCOTT A. MAKUAKANE is the founder of the Honolulu law firm of Est8Planning Counsel LLLC. Scott is a graduate of Ka`u High School, the southernmost high school in the United States. He headed up north for college and earned his B.A. at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Scott returned to the Islands and was awarded his Juris Doctorate by the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, William S. Richardson School of Law, where he sat on the editorial board of the University of Hawaii Law Review. He has practiced estate planning and trust law since 1983. Scott has written various books, training manuals, and articles for lawyers and the reading public. His latest release, Est8Planning for Geniuses, is aimed at a general audience, and gives readers a foundation for working with their trusted estate planning advisors. Scott lectures for a variety of professional and community groups. He is also past president of the Christian Legal Society of Hawaii; past president and past chairman of the board of the Financial Planning Association of Hawaii; and past president of the board of trustees of the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Honolulu.
